Canadian emcees Tony and Bain dropped their first official release, Volume One, in September 2012 and quickley gained a reputation for heavy-hitting production, with brilliant, heartfelt verses in both rhyme and meter. The musical duo, though plainly well-suited to one another in tone, sound, and attitude, have their musical foundations in remarkably different histories and geographies. Brendan Bain was born in British Columbia and by his teens had learned guitar, entering a heavy metal rock band before graduating high school. After high school he joined the army, served two tours of duty in Afghanistan and also as part of the Vancouver 2010 Winter Games security force. Leagues away, Tony was born in San Fernando, Trinidad. When he was four, his family relocated to Canada seeking a higher standard of life and opportunities for their children. At age seven his mother entered him into piano lessons; it would prove life-changing. By 16, Tony had become proficient in not only piano, but also trombone, percussion, bass and guitar. He joined the army at 19, where he found himself unable to make use of his instruments because of his military surroundings and was forced to channel his creativity into rapping as an art form.
